Reflections and resolutions

As the year draws to a close, we look back at an exciting twelve months for Environet, which saw us help more customers than ever before in the fight against Japanese knotweed.

It’s been a difficult year for the sector, with more confusing and conflicting information entering the public domain than ever before. We’ve made it our mission, as market leader, to be the voice of truth about knotweed, fighting the flow of misinformation with simple facts.

We hosted a pop up Japanese knotweed consultancy with the prestigious Duchy of Cornwall, which saw us featured on BBC Radio and live on TV with ITV West Country, to help educate people in one of our key areas of operation with helpful tips and advice. We hope to replicate this event elsewhere in 2019.

In the early summer we released our annual YouGov consumer survey into Japanese knotweed, focusing on the ability of the general public to identify the plant, which led to an exclusive article in the Daily Mail and extensive coverage across regional and consumer press.

2018 also saw a long awaited personal project come to fruition, with the publication of my book, ‘Japanese knotweed; Unearthing the Truth’, the UK’s first definite guide to knotweed. Following sell-out talks at Guildford Book Festival in October and Wisley Gardens in November, and positive reviews in a number of gardening and lifestyle magazines and blogs, the book is selling extremely well and is helping us cut through the mass of misinformation out there about Japanese knotweed.

Among exciting plans for 2019, we look forward to taking part in the Parliamentary Review into Japanese knotweed and the Built Environment which will explore the science behind some of the claims about knotweed and its impact on homeowners and businesses across the UK. Along with a market leading partner in the materials sector, we will also be undertaking research into new ways of stopping knotweed in its tracks, at our test site in East Sussex.

Which only leaves me to say a very sincere thank you to you, our customers, for supporting Environet’s growth and our aim to be the UK’s most reliable and trustworthy Japanese knotweed removal firm.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

“We had a large stand of bamboo removed, thinned, contained and replaced. The customer service has been first class. Joe and Jason were fabulous and kept me well informed at all times”.
