Japanese knotweed solutions
Japanese knotweed solutions for residential and commercial sites

If you have a problem with Japanese knotweed, you’ll understand how invasive and damaging it can be to your property. Unlike any other weed in the UK today, its roots are able to grow into weak spots in your foundations and cause significant harm if nothing is done about the infestation.
Environet provide the UK’s leading Japanese knotweed solutions for both commercial and domestic properties. Over the last 20 years, we’ve developed cutting edge treatments that will help solve your knotweed problem and prevent any potential damage.
The key to delivering effective Japanese knotweed solutions is a rapid response that is tailored to the area which has been affected. A large location like an industrial estate will have different challenges to a house with a small garden. Our specialist knotweed teams are fully trained to assess your situation and ensure the right method is used to get rid of the problem.
You might not be sure you have a Japanese knotweed problem at all. That’s not a problem. All you need to do is take a picture and email it to our experienced team at [email protected]. We will confirm whether it’s knotweed or not, absolutely free.
If you’re certain you have Japanese knotweed, you can contact our professional removal team to book an appointment and consultation on 01932 868 700.

Frequently asked questions
While this is a highly invasive plant that causes multiple problems, there are a variety of different Japanese knotweed solutions available. At Environet, we’ve developed various patented techniques over the years which have made us one of the leading experts in this area.
For commercial properties, this includes a full soil screening and excavation technique called Xtract™. Business locations often present a specific set of challenges for Japanese knotweed removal, particularly in areas like industrial estates where infestations can be widespread and cover a number of properties.
For domestic properties, we are more likely to choose other methods. Resi-Dig-Out™ is similar to our commercial Japanese knotweed solution but on a smaller scale. Homes can sometimes be problematic because they are usually close together and are less accessible for machinery. Understanding the spread of Japanese knotweed here is important if full eradication is to be achieved and may well involve liaising with several adjoining homeowners.
Our DART™ method is another of our Japanese knotweed solutions which uses herbicides during the summer months and doesn’t approach excavation until the winter. That way you can control the Japanese knotweed but not cause damage to the rest of your garden while it’s in full bloom.
If you are looking to completely get rid of your Japanese knotweed problem, you really need to employ specialists who understand what they are doing. The good news is that Environet offers a range of different Japanese knotweed solutions that can be tailored to deliver great results for many different property types.
One of the main questions we get asked when dealing with Japanese knotweed is whether simple herbicides work. At Environet, we tend to use these more for control rather than as a complete solution to getting rid of the weed.
Herbicide is normally sprayed onto the leaves and, if successful, it will work its way down the stems and into the root system, killing the whole plant off. The problem with Japanese knotweed is that it has an extensive system of roots and rhizomes which grow deep into the soil. It can take several applications of herbicide, perhaps over several years, before a whole plant is destroyed.
Our Japanese knotweed solutions are designed to ensure that your infestation is fully treated / removed. Using herbicides may be a part of this but we will generally use other methods to ensure destruction and full eradication.
Over the years, it’s been possible to keep track of Japanese knotweed infestations around the UK. This has given rise to a useful map that shows where the hotspots are. You can look at where Japanese knotweed has been found in your area by simply putting your postcode into our interactive map.
